I stayed and worked in Madrid during the year 2017/2018. Until then I had never worked on a big and complex Illustrator illustration. I needed to find something somehow challenging and that would get me to do many things and use many features of the program (draw complex paths, monuments, people, landscape, perspective, use blending modes, clipping masks, creating patterns, color, gradient, create shadows/highlights etc.).

Recently I stumbled upon some “vintage travel poster” that I found quite beautiful. Therefore I decided to do one for Moncloa, the neighbourhood I lived in and loved. Thus it includes its main landmarks, as well as my favourite cervecería. The result is definitely perfectible but I’m overall quite happy with how it came out. In the different image sliders, you can see some close-ups on the details or some steps by steps of the process. I first shot some photos of the monuments I wanted to represent, then sketched them in black and white, later coloured them and finally arranged them all together.
